Start of school year delayed until Sept. 14

Hello White Bear Lake Area Schools community,

At tonight's August 24, 2020 Work-Study Meeting, the White Bear Lake Area School Board supported my recommendation to change the Return to School Plan, delaying the start of the school year for all students K-12+ to September 14.

Students will begin in their chosen learning model, either hybrid or distance learning, in the following schedule:

  • Monday, September 14
    • First Day for all Grades K-12+ Hybrid Learning Model Group A (Last names A-K)
    • First Day for all students who have chosen Distance Learning
    • First Day of Early Childhood programming
  • Tuesday, September 15
    • First Day for all Grades K-12+ Hybrid Group B (Last Names L-Z)

The remainder of the days will follow the A/B Day rotation highlighted in the following graphic:

Delaying the start of the school year will allow staff members to have more time to plan in preparation for providing students with the safest return to school this fall.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to navigate our road to returning to school. We will follow-up with additional information later this week.

Thank you,
Dr. Wayne Kazmierczak, Superintendent
