Early Childhood Screening

All 3 to 5 year old children in Minnesota are required to complete early childhood screening, including a hearing and vision check, speech and developmental screening, and health and immunization screening.

Make an Early Childhood Screening Appointment

Please call the office with any questions at 651-653-3100.

In addition to completing the registration form, parents need to bring the following:

  • Child's birth certificate (a copy is acceptable)
  • Child's immunization record

Screening is required before entrance into kindergarten but is not a screening tool for kindergarten. It is offered by White Bear Lake Area Schools at no cost. Screening at age 3 is preferred, but a child may be screened between the ages of 3 and the start of kindergarten, as required by law. Screenings are held throughout the school year and normally take 1 to 1.5 hours to complete. Watch a quick Early Childhood Screening video.
